Latest Incident Attended

On Sunday 03/03/13 at about 12.00, 54yr old managing director of Orange Mountain Bikes, UK, Michael Bonney, came off his bicycle while taking part in the Eden Valley Epic cycle event. He suffered a badly broken neck & immediately stopped breathing. He was given very good life-saving basic life support by several passing doctors & when the NWAS land ambulance arrived he was fully conscious but paralysed & struggling to breathe. BEEP Dr. Theo Weston arrived shortly afterwards as did the NWAAS helicopter from Blackpool with two paramedics on board. Together they were able to perform a further life-saving manoever before flying him to thr RVI hospital in Newcastle. He has since been transferred to the Spinal Injury Unit in James Cook Hospital, Middlesborough, for further treatment & rehabilitation. The most recent piece of good news was that he married his long term partner, Linzi, in hospital yesterday (22/03/13).
